Explore Our 4 Pillars

Discovery

Tilga Art Prize conducts open calls in Nigeria, South Africa, and Uganda, with plans to expand to additional African countries.

Emerging artists are identified through a rigorous selection process led by independent panels of curators, collectors, gallerists, established artists, and other art professionals, ensuring each finalist is evaluated through diverse perspectives that reflect both the local and broader arts ecosystem.

Development

Tilga invests in finalists’ long term growth through unrestricted grants, mentorship, professional development, artist residencies, and programs like Tilga ArtTalk, where established artists, curators, gallerists, and thought leaders engage artists in conversation, learning, and reflection, helping them strengthen their practice, expand their perspective, and grow in new creative environments.

Community

Tilga fosters a supportive network among finalists across Nigeria, South Africa, and Uganda from all five editions.

Through their WhatsApp community, artists encourage one another, share opportunities, promote each other’s work, celebrate milestones, attend events, and collaborate on new projects, creating a meaningful refuge for artists who often work alone.

Visibilty

Tilga expands artists’ visibility by connecting them to international audiences through exhibitions alongside major African art fairs,

Also facilitate introductions to collectors, curators, and thought leaders, through the Tilga ArtTalk, social media, YouTube, and the Tilga website.

Through its global travels and networks, Tilga also helps facilitate gallery representation and broader professional opportunities.
